Banff National Park, Alberta

Cruise Boats, fishing and other water sports are popular here in summer. Dams were built in 1912 and 1941 to supply Banff and Calgary with hydro-electric power. The most recent dam (1941) raised the lake 30 m and submerged the resort village of Minnewanka Landing that had been there since 1888. During summer scuba divers explore the submerged town and the original dam (the one from 1912). We had a nice view of Mt Peechee and Mt Inglismaldie in the background.
